One Stone Visits DCP Productions

This morning Elie and Angelo had the privilege of touring DCP Productions's studio located in Canton, Baltimore. DCP serves as one of GEICO's main production companies and dedicates most of its time these days to creating commercials for this particular mega client. Of course, all good commercials need a good jingle or backing track, so a large part of their business is devoted to creating and recording professional audio. One Stone was able to cross reference their live room setup with that of DCP, noting the acoustical treatment of the space as well as their typical miking configurations.

The most impressive aspect of their operation resided in their production room, which was outfitted with Don Cherel's incredible collection of high-end equipment. The massive mixer was upstaged by a litany of analog compressors, equalizers, reverb machines, and pre-amps. Getting to see a very successful and well-established studio such as this up close was a fantastic experience for Angelo and Elie, who, needless to say, were in heaven amidst the voluminous stacks of fancy gear.

Moreover, one of DCP's head audio engineers shared some invaluable technical knowledge and strategic advice via conversation during the tour. One Stone is especially appreciative of the hospitality shown by Mark Patey, who was more than happy to answer all of their specific recording questions and offer his input on their own operation.
